Uncomplicating Your Meditation Practice

Simply Being Alive: A Meditation Practice

Let's face it, meditation can seem overwhelming, considering the variety of meditation approaches and techniques available. Just like most things, when meditation becomes a struggle or seems complicated, simplicity is the path to a lasting practice, especially when you are starting out.

And the way to keep it simple is by making your sessions focused on simply being alive.

Here is a dead simple routine you can do to uncomplicate your practice, build consistency, and be guaranteed to deepen the way you experience meditation.

Radically Shift The Way You Experience Unpleasantness

Want to radically shift your experience of reality?

Start with the things that irk you.

When something unpleasant or inconvenient happens, immediately look to find things you are grateful for.

To do this, first process the emotion you are initially having (anger, frustration, disappointment, etc.)

Then ask yourself three questions:

  1. Is this emotion serving me well?
  2. What emotion or mindset would serve me better?
  3. What would have to happen for me to find gratitude right now?

Seek and you shall find.

If you do this consistently and genuinely, this can create a massive shift in the way you respond to the inevitable frustrations life throws at you — because the more gratitude you can find for your past and present, the more faith you will have to face the unknowns of your future.


// A tip to Bend Your Reality!

Break Your Upper Limit

Unconsciously, we all carry an upper limit, a self-imposed boundary that can impede our efforts. This upper limit stems from our own beliefs and perceptions about what we deserve or can achieve. To manifest something we truly desire and extraordinary, we must show our subconscious minds what lies beyond this limit.

We must dig deep and get our subconscious to believe something new about ourselves.

It requires doing the inner work, shattering the glass ceiling we’ve constructed around ourselves, and daring to reach for more.

Two Attitudes When Working With The Mind

Lately, I've been diving into the work of Ian Tucker, a meditation teacher and self-help author. Two of the recurring themes in his work that really strike a chord with me:

  1. Remembering everything is temporary. This includes your thoughts, emotions, and sensations.
  2. And reminding yourself that it's the littlest things that deliver our deepest needs.

Obviously, these are both profound attitudes to embody for life in general. But the more I think about it, this is how you want to approach when working with the mind and exploring consciousness, whether that's meditating or engaging with any other modality.

Smiling From The Inside

The next time you are meditating or trying to relax, and you are feeling restless and distracted...

Imagine you are smiling from the inside.

Feel a smile coming from deep within you.

It might seem like a bizarre concept, but your body smiles. Your heart smiles.

Ask, what does it feel like to say: “My body is smiling?”

Say it and notice what happens.

When we smile with our body, we open ourselves to everything, to all of this that is happening right now.
