The Art of Manifesting Good Luck ✨

Published 6 months ago • 6 min read

Hey there, friends.

Is it seriously November already?

Hope you've been doing well, and enjoying life since we last connected.

This week, I am exploring an interesting question: Is it possible to create your own good luck? And what roles do synchronicities and coincidences play in our lives?

Psychologist, Carl Jung described this phenomenon in this way:

Synchronicity (and coincidence) is the coming together of inner and outer events in a way that cannot be explained by cause and effect and that is meaningful to the observer.

In this week's featured essay, I drew inspiration from Carl's quote and delved into how we can harness the power of synchronicities and coincidences to manifest good luck in our lives. I've also included a simple nightly exercise you can try to ignite this process.

I'm also curious to hear your take on synchronicities and coincidences — and if you try the exercise mentioned in the essay, I'd love to know how it goes for you.

Aside from that, we have our usual curated insights from others below.

Talk soon.

We Are Always Rippling Out And Receiving In
Vaz Sriharan

For the rest of us (who are not personally involved in the war in Israel) who observe, what’s our place, our responsibility?

When we strip away the governments, the personal agendas, the protests, the arguments — there are people on the ground on both sides who equally deserve help. This is perhaps the most important issue of all. A humanitarian issue where we ask, how do we help all those in need?

If we can’t help directly then how do we help indirectly?

When I focus on the people who are suffering, those in need, then I know where my energy can be helpful. If I can’t help directly then I always ask a question:

Do I want to propagate the energy of conflict — which especially during these days of the internet we see more clearly how it can ripple and incite more and more division/hatred — leading to possibly more atrocities?

Or do I want to transform it when it reaches the doorstep of my consciousness?

Do I want to decide to end the cycle of conflict by choosing another way?

To even want to choose this means we have to do the inner work with our own conflict consciousness.

We are each the stewards of peace. We are each responsible for what leaves our doorstep of consciousness as we each transmit that outwardly.

The internet is just a metaphor for what is always occurring on a mass consciousness level. We are always rippling out and receiving in.

Birth and Death Are Only A Game of Hide-and-Seek
Thích Nhất Hạnh

This body is not me; I am not caught in this body, I am life without boundaries, I have never been born and I have never died. Over there the wide ocean and the sky with many galaxies All manifests from the basis of consciousness. Since beginningless time I have always been free. Birth and death are only a door through which we go in and out. Birth and death are only a game of hide-and-seek. So smile to me and take my hand and wave good-bye. Tomorrow we shall meet again or even before. We shall always be meeting again at the true source, Always meeting again on the myriad paths of life.

What It Takes To Live An Extraordinary Life
David Gerken

Most of us plan too much, analyze too much and just plain THINK too much. Everybody’s a control freak these days.

...Maybe you just feel pressure from society in general to “stand out,” “be a big deal,” and “make it”?

What does all that do? It takes the universe, God, nature, fate, whatever you want to call it, out of the equation of our life’s journey. And that often leads to an antiseptic and flat journey through life.

Be spontaneous, adventurous, impetuous.

Be yourself, live in the present (i.e., no thinking about the past or future) and allow fate to be the riverboat transporting you through life. That’s it.

So what does it take to live an extraordinary life: Be courageous and fight.

You have to fight like hell for yourself. Some will wage that fight against their parents. Others will wage it against their peers. And others will battle an amorphous force coming from multiple aspects of society telling them they need a higher profile job, a better car and a bigger house.

But most of these fights will be fought on the battlefield of your inner self. Because your parents, peers and society have spent years residing in your psyche.

So when you start thinking about leaving your job to spend a year in Paris working on the book you’ve always wanted to write, it’s going to roil your insides. And that’s when you have to fight. For yourself. And be as courageous as a warrior in combat, because you’ll be doing the same thing: Fighting for your life.

7 Subtle Ways To Overcome Distractions In Meditation

The biggest hurdle to a deepening meditation practice for most people is fighting distractions. Here are 7 quick tips to ease any struggles during your practice.

  1. Mental Noting
Whatever thoughts or feelings arise, name or classify them without judgment: “worrying,” “planning,” “tension in my leg,” etc.”
  2. Coach Yourself
If you are struggling to relax and focus, then pep-talk yourself back to presence. “I got this.” “I can do this.” “I am bringing myself back to the present moment.”
  3. Counting In and Out
Instead of watching your breathing, count each inhale and exhale. Breathe in: “one.” Breathe out: “two.” Go to 10 and start over.
  4. “Calm And At Ease”
Ignore the breath and gently repeat “calm and at ease.” Within minutes, you might begin to notice how relaxed your breath has become.
  5. Come To Your Senses
Focus on each of your 5 senses one at a time for a few minutes. Then try to perceive as many as you can simultaneously.
  6. Tongue To Roof
If your breathing is erratic, gently touch the roof of your mouth with your tongue. Place your awareness on that spot. You might notice your breathing instantly stabilizes.
  7. The Space In-Between
Put your full attention on the tiny gaps of empty space in between your distracting thoughts. Try to rest in that space.

12 Liberating Insights From Sadhguru On Transcending Suffering And Sparking Inner Joy

// Parting words: 🥚

We, as individuals, hold the power to shape this world we live in.

We are continually at a choice point: either accept the world's current narrative as presented to us or reject this portrayal in favor of something greater, wiser, and more loving.

Opting for the latter demands personal responsibility, not just for creating the reality we desire for ourselves but for our entire species.

As my friend Tom reminded me the other day, we are not merely 1 planet with 8 billion people; we are 8 billion planets with 1 consciousness.

A new paradigm is always but a choice away — we just have to be willing to break down the walls.

German-Swiss novelist and poet, Hermann Hesse uses this analogy:

"The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God..."

"If the chick is not able to break the shell of his egg, he will die without being born. We are - chick. The world - is our egg. If we do not break the shell of the world, then we will die without being born."

With gratitude. ✌🏼
