Life's harsh reality... ⌛

Hey there, friends.

Hope everyone is doing well.

What's one of the toughest lessons that life has been impressing upon you this year? For me, it has felt like the Universe is trying to open my eyes to life's nature of impermanence.

This is the harsh reality of life.

Circumstances will change. Relationships will end. Loved ones will move on. Our bodies won't look and work like they used to.

Intellectually, we know this.

We know everything in our existence is fleeting and how fragile life is. However, it's not until we're confronted with significant change or loss that we start to feel this truth viscerally and spiritually.

Last week, Human Parts published a piece I wrote about my experience over the last two years dealing with life's impermanence and the lessons I am learning. It's one of the more harrowing pieces I ever wrote, as it is aptly titled: "I Might Be Blind One Day But I’ve Never Felt So Alive." (Family and friends, you might want to brace yourselves before reading this one. 😉)

More importantly, I'm eager to hear about the tough lessons life is teaching you and how you're navigating through the challenging terrain of impermanence. In a world that is always spotlighting our differences, this is part of our shared humanity. Everything can change in the blink of an eye for all of us, so it's a subject we can all relate to (or eventually will relate to). Hit reply and share your thoughts.

Thanks for reading and have a great couple of weeks.

You Are a Multidimensional Personality

Jane Roberts

Trust the miracle of your own being. Make no divisions between the physical and the spiritual in your lifetimes, for the spiritual speaks with a physical voice and the corporeal body is the creation of the spirit (...)

You will not become more spiritual by denying your flesh. This is the life you are living! Trust the living that flows through you. By doing so, other realities will make themselves known. They will add dimension and depth to your present reality.

...You cannot appreciate your spirituality unless you appreciate your creaturehood. It is not a matter of rising above your nature, but of evolving from the full understanding of it. There is a difference.

who you really are! ✨

The Divine, All-Powerful, Unstoppable and Magnificent Being

John C. Parkin

There are two apparently opposing forces that govern our lives. No, not good and evil. Love and fear. That's right: the opposite of love is not hate, but fear.

Maybe it's because we innately know that everything is impermanent that we so desperately cling to it.

We know that our youth vanishes, that we and our loved ones will die one day, that whatever we have accumulated can easily be taken away from us, that one day our skills might not be wanted, that a day may come when our love might not be reciprocated. But we go on clinging.

Everywhere we turn we are faced with impermanence.

The more we cling — of course — the more pain we feel as things fade, disappear, and die around us.

And sometimes the more we cling, the more these things happen...

The key to being able to let go of all the stuff you're holding on to is knowing that you'll be okay if you don't have it.

And that's the truth.

You can survive with very little. And though the passing of people and things can be painful, you will survive.

…The keys to liberation are universal and essentially simple:
disengage from all the stories you've been telling yourself about life and who you are or should be, and all at once you know yourself as divine, all-powerful, unstoppable, and magnificent, as any divine, all-powerful, unstoppable being would.

Learning How To Think

David Foster Wallace

Teaching you how to think is actually shorthand for a much deeper, more serious idea: learning how to think really means learning how to exercise some control over how and what you think. It means being conscious and aware enough to choose what you pay attention to and to choose how you construct meaning from experience. Because if you cannot exercise this kind of choice in adult life, you will be totally hosed. Think of the old cliché about “the mind being an excellent servant but a terrible master.

The Key To A Transformative Meditation Practice: Your Attitude

Adyashanti

The main reason why meditation does not lead to the promised state of transformation is actually extraordinarily simple and therefore easy to miss: we approach meditation with the wrong attitude. We carry out our meditation with an attitude of control and manipulation, and that is the very reason our meditation leads us to what feels like a dead end. The awakened state of being, the enlightened state of being, can also be called the natural state of being. How can control and manipulation possibly lead us to our natural state?

...Real meditation is not about mastering a technique; it’s about letting go of control. This is meditation. Anything else is actually a form of concentration. Meditation and concentration are two different things. Concentration is a discipline; concentration is a way in which we are actually directing or guiding or controlling our experience. Meditation is letting go of control, letting go of guiding our experience in any way whatsoever. The foundation of True Meditation is that we are letting go of control.

// Parting words: ⛰️

Continuing on the theme of learning tough life lessons and impermanence, a reader recently shared:

In 2020 I broke up with my wife, was diagnosed with cancer, went through treatment that made me feel sick for 7 weeks, and couldn't get a job for a year, all during COVID. I went to the bottom. I thought I was broken and tried to fix myself. But the truth is, I wasn't broken. I slowly came back up again. I found I was resilient. Now I have a job and a new relationship, I act as a volunteer for the More to Life charity, and exercise nearly every day.

He then shared this quote from writer and humorist, Linda Poindexter:

"One small crack doesn't mean that you're broken, it means that you were put to the test and didn't fall apart."

With gratitude. ✌🏼

Hey there conscious creator! Hope you are doing well. Ever feel like the whole concept of manifestation is just a bit too woo-woo? You're not alone. I recently received a comment from a reader on one of my posts that made me LOL: “Damn, all those 80-hour work weeks when all I had to do is ask the universe in the correct way. At least I know now.” Hilarious, right? I get it. The idea of manifesting your dreams can seem as outlandish as casting spells in a fantasy novel. It's no wonder there...
